My biggest concern is the GPA. I have 3.01 GPA, and I will recieve the BS degree for biology in May 2012. But, I am not sure what is the required GPA for physician assistant programs and I am quite scared to re-take 2 classes that I had gotten C’s in, because from what I have read the earlier posts that the person had not gotten into a school because of her GPA. Also, I am quite concerned if my GPA is not good enough to get into the physician assistant program. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

hey Dave its great to go through all the info u have provided on this website, i have been focusing on all the interviews you have posted on this site, i have done BHMS i.e non traditional Medicine from India,Homoeopathy was my Major and i took some Prerequisites here in the US my overall GPA is 4.0,i have 10 yrs of experience in medical field , i was working as a duty medical officer in a hospital in India and had completed 500 hrs of volunteer medical work in the US,i will have an interview on 13th jan at Drexel university what do u think are the chances of my acceptance to this school,waiting to hear from you,thanks for your valuable time,bbye

I have found your information to be very useful and I wanted to personally thank you. However, I do have a specific question to ask you. One of the schools that I want to apply to put a lot of emphasis on demonstrating ongoing community service and involvement. So what do you feel that the program is looking for and where can I go about getting involved?

Thank you for this website Mr. DuBose. This is my first time viewing this website and I like the info that’s provided. I’ve been thinking about a career as a PA for a while now and the more I read about them, the more interested I am to do it. I’m interested in a speciality working with both children and women’s healh. Soon, I’ll be looking for local hosptials or clinics where I can shadow a PA. I will continue on doing some research and exploring your website

My biggest struggle has been getting a job that has direct patient care, without having to go through a trade school. Not many places will hired new graduates. Most, if not all of my experience (direct patient care) is volunteer, which means I have to work to pay the bills and still go to school, even after graduating college, to show the committee that I am capable and committed to dedicating my life to serving others and learning for a lifetime. Not only is this financially stressful, it can be a bit overwhelming and at times discouraging.

Thank you so much for your videos. They are really helping me relax and feel prepared. I have an interview in one week from today for the only PA program I applied to. I was wondering if you could help me out by telling me what kind of interesting questions I should be prepared to answer.Also I heard that the interview has a written segment where they have previously asked random questions like ” give instructions to a friend on changing a flat tire.” What exactly are they looking for in this kind of question. Thanks again for all your help.

Hey there dave,

I am just starting out as student and i am working towards to be a Surgical Technition so when i can get my foot in the door or the medical area of work. i am also wanting to work towards P.A. School. is there any basic sugestions you may have that can help me get to P.A school in a quick effective time line. on average how long does it take to get through all the pre-required classes and then once in a program what is the time frame like?

My biggest challenge is my GPA. I really wish my circumstances were different at home when I was younger. I would not have worked 3 jobs while taking full loads to keep from having to go back. I’ve had a passion for the medical field since I was in 5th grade and paying doctor on my siblings. I used tweezers, popsicle sticks, band-aids, peroxide, alcohol and anything else that I thought could be used as a tool to “doctor” on their cuts. I didn’t know then that I was adding more germs to their wounds.

i am also having trouble getting the medical experience. I have received my phlebotomy certificate over the summer, but i can’t find a job. Everyone wants experience. Was looking at MA jobs as well. How do you get these jobs w/o the experience??? My GRE was unfortunately at the minimum required as well. Waiting for PA interviews now! I live in Atlanta, so if anyone has any insight on how to get in the healthcare field, please let me know!!
